"The Jealousy of God: Part III" covered Nahum 2.3-13, as God shows Assyria and its capital, Nineveh, just how futile it is to oppose God. It begged the question for us, "What in my life is futile and needs to be surrendered to God?"
Summary: Nineveh, despite its strength and might, will be defeated by God due to its opposition to Him. This serves as a warning to all who oppose God, as their efforts will ultimately be futile. The message is also one of hope for God’s people, Judah, who will be rescued from Nineveh’s oppression.

We continued our series on "Jealousy of God" as we dove into Nahum 1.9-2.2. Verse 15 contains the key to our response to God's call to be restored, how we are to "fulfill our vows". God is asking for devotion, but the question to be answered is "Will you come and be devoted?"

Today we began our series on Nahum, recognizing "The Jealousy of God" as the driving force between God's destruction of Nineveh and His salvation of Judah. His jealousy is a holy pursuit of endearing endurance. The same God who loved Israel and Judah then, loves His redeemed people today. The same God who held Assyria accountable according to His wisdom will hold nations accountable today. The same God who was slow to anger then, continues to show mercy through His work on the cross.

"What do to with directions" is a message about the simplicity of following directions. If we are given directions, we follow them, being sure that we end up at the destination that has been laid out for us. The word of God gives us the directions, the instructions, for living out God's will in the world. Just as Jesus was about fulfilling God's mission in the world, so the Church is called to do the same. The text today was Luke 4.14-22.

Asbury Chapel’s beliefs are centered around the infallibility of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. The church affirms the historical creeds and the Global Methodist Church’s Catechism, but ultimately, all beliefs are derived from Scripture. The word of God, both written and embodied in Jesus, is the source of truth, salvation, and holiness, guiding the church’s teachings, practices, and mission.

We continued our series on Vision, Mission, and Beliefs, covering our MISSION:
Asbury Chapel is a Global Methodist Church called to lead people to be fully devoted to Jesus Christ, who worship passionately, love extravagantly and witness boldly.
This mission is rooted in Ephesians 4.11-15, emphasizing the importance of maturity in Christ and unity in faith. The church aims to equip believers to serve and build up the body of Christ, ultimately achieving spiritual maturity and fulfilling God’s will.

We begin a 3-week look at our Vision, Mission, and Beliefs at Asbury Chapel with our Vision:
Asbury Chapel is a vibrant, Christ-centered church that spreads scriptural holiness within the community and beyond.
Using 2 Timothy 1.8-10, we believe that we are called to suffer for the spread of the Gospel, and that we are called to be holy by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Listen in for more and join us Sundays at 10am!
